Using LinkedIn Right

I love LinkedIn. It’s not only where I get new clients. It’s also a place where I connect with the starts of my industry. When most people think of LinkedIn, they think of a site to use when you’re looking for a new job. It’s good at that, but used right it’s so much more. It’s a place to build the relationships that can take your work to the next level.

LinkedIn can help entrepreneurs, freelancers and professionals find exactly the kind of people who will enable exciting, interesting work. Even if you’re settled in a career with no plans to change job soon, starting to use LinkedIn now will help you grow in your current role. You can find:

  • Clients and customers

  • Collaborators and partners

  • Mentors and mentees

  • Employees and vendors

Even better, you don’t have to directly reach out whenever you need something. You can build a network of people who share your values and whom you trust. To get LinkedIn working for you this way, you must be intentional. You need to design your LinkedIn profile so that it attracts the right people.
